Awesome. Everything I was looking forward to in the finished version.

The melody is the selling point in this piece, it just compliments everything in the song so nicely. And it's a great progression to listen to as well. The bass is very good, driving the song along, and has it's own little melodies to keep the song fresh. The drums are good and I like the FX you used.

If I had anything to critique it would maybe be the interlude/transition close to the end, starting around 3:45, could have been a little more different than the beginning, maybe adding more than just the bass fills. Like maybe have little swells of the melody or something along with the bass. It doesn't necessarily make the song bad with the way it is now, it's just I think it add some great emotional aspects to the piece.

That's just me though, as that's the way I try to write music, so don't worry too much about this. It's an amazing piece as is, I enjoy it, and I'm sure others will/do too.

Great work!

Thank you! These coments really helps me to make even better music! and im really happy that you take your time to write something like this!

This is nice. It's a bit repetitive though, and starts to become too repetitive before the piano comes in at the end. You had a nice melody and bassline, but if you went farther with the melody, by either adding an arp or tweaking the melody, it would make this song really nice. Maybe adding some white noise filter sweeps and more FX would be nice as well.

The mix/master was good, I could hear mostly everything nicely, except the synth is a little too quiet at the beginning from 0:30 to about 1:00, which lets the bass overpower it.

So if you go and work on this track again, being that it's four months old, see if you can work on getting that beginning synth a little louder so that the bass won't overpower it and work on adding the FX in as well.

Nicely done though

Ill take a look at it and make it even better :)

I know its low on FX.. I always forget FX :p Too lazy to add it.

EDIT: oh boy, I cant change it since i Purchased reFX nexus 2 and installed it. I made this song with a Pirated version of Nexus 2 so i cant open it with the ne nexus :(

This is nice. Can't wait to hear the full version. When you do, you should see how far you can go with that melody you had at the beginning, as that was an awesome melody and I want to hear more of it. I also like the clash of the melody and the bass at 0:30.

I can't think of much to improve, except to see how much you can do with that melody at the beginning.

Nice job, keep it up!

thank you! this really helps allot, and il keep all of this in mind! There isn't many people who take their time to give thees advises, so thank you!

I'm loving that intro. Smooth, calm and relaxed. Very fitting of the "Enlightenment" title.

My only gripe is the transition at 1:49-ish, the way it cuts off of the intro, takes away from the song a little before getting back into it. Maybe if you had it transition like you had the music do at 3:50 it would flow more like a trance song.

The middle-the end is good, the transition to the end happens at a good time before the song gets too repetitive, and I like how it's constantly building until the end. The finish could have been a little better, with a little bit more resolution instead of just cutting off with the crash.

Anyways, this was really good. Keep it up!

wow thanks man ;) I aprreciate your review ;)

This sounds cool! Makes me imagine being in an epic boss battle or in a big race. It's fast pasted, there's some good variety, you changed it up a little before it would get too repetitive, which I like.

There's also some good suspense, with the tension build ups and releases. As I said earlier, it would be good for a boss fight or big race.

If I had to say something about improving...hmm, I would maybe go with making some better transitions. The sudden stops kind of take away from the track and it sounds like a new song is coming in after that second of silence, instead of feeling like a flowing track.

But good job nonetheless, this is still a nice track. I just feel like it would be better if it all flowed nicely together. Keep it up!

KrisKrosNL responds:

Thanks for the review. Transitions have been difficult for me to complete correctly.

I can't help but love all your melodies Envy. In fact, I could say I'm a bit envious of your music ;)

Envy responds:

Ohohohoh touche

This is cool. For still being new in the genre, this is much better than anything I can make, and I'm still new at it too. What program did you use, just curious?

This is very fitting for a battle. It's suspenseful, has a good build, melody, and bass. When you continue it, I think a nice synth or guitar solo could make the track fit even more. And I can't hear any mixing issues, except for maybe the high hats are a bit too loud around 0:50-ish. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product of this in the future, and I'm going to go listen to your other stuff, see if I can get some inspiration, as I'm running low lol.

Awesome job.

Troisnyx responds:

FL Studio 10, all the way through. Admittedly, I've had trouble continuing after where this piece ends (I was thinking of a semi-orchestral end, but still keeping the EDM foundations).

Thanks for pointing it out -- now that I take a listen, the hi-hats (and the snare roll) are LOUD. Glad that you listened!

Aw, shame you're not going to upload to newgrounds anymore. I was really starting to enjoy your music on here, and I'm sure you'll keep making good music from here on. Good luck, wherever you go from here man.

On the topic of this track, I like it, very fitting with the title. I actually can't find anything to critique with it.

slipperyslopes responds:

Thanks a lot. :) yeah... It's just my last year in highschool and i want to focus on some other things... And i'm hoping for a fresh start somewhere else. :) thanks for your support!

This is sweet. I love dubstep songs that are chill like this and do go overboard with the wubwub. My only issue is that it's a little too repetitive right now, so maybe add a new melody or tweak some parameters to keep the track fresh, but still keeping the track flowing.

SirSirius responds:

Thanks a lot for your review! :)

Repetitiveness is definitely something I will work on!

This is pretty good. I'm not really an expert with DnB, or with most electronic music and its production, but if I had to give any constructive criticism, I would say that I would go farther with the half-time feel part at 1:10 (is that the Amen Break variant? I'm not sure), I think that would be cool to have it build up back to the original speed. It started at a good time, and if you went farther with it, it would make for a good building part.

But that's me, and I am fairly clueless when it comes to Drum N Bass music, as I tend to stick to trance, so I can't give you much more help with criticism. Sorry ^^;
Keep it up though, it sounds good so far!

Enveri responds:

I'm not really an expert with DnB either, hence the need for feedback. I like the slow down too, and I agree that it should be longer (thus, it will be). However, what I meant by Amen Break was the drum beat in the background (the specifics of what exactly it is can probably be found on Wikipedia).

Thanks for the help DlynMatrix!

I'm an amateur Instrumental EDM composer from Minnesota, and my genre is mainly Trance. I use FL Studio, play acoustic guitar and electric bass, and I sing as well. I'm the other half of the group Equilibria.
